This just in! The folks over at StudioMDHR, you know those fellas making that fantastic looking shooty-jumpy game Cuphead, have just announced their game’s been delayed, see. They posted the disappointing news over here on their website thingy, saying that they want the extra time to make sure they deliver on their original vision, good on ’em for telling it like it is! Chad Moldenhauer, the mastermind behind the game’s looney tune art style laid it out plain and simple, ya hear?

Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact. We are happy to announce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017.

We are constantly humbled by your continued support. Love you all and can’t wait to get this to you. Without further ado, we will get back to work! – Chad Moldenhauer, StudioMDHR

So there you have it folks, from the horses mouth himself: Cuphead coming mid-2017 to Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam. I’m reminded of that famous quote from that Miyamoto fella, went something like this: “A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.”

Anyway, time to get on my penny-farthing and peddle off into the sunset, see you in 2017….

… In the meantime, take a look at Cuphead‘s art and gameplay in action

I remember playing Super Mario Bros. and Metroid on the NES with my older brother, and never being able to land on the aircraft carrier in Top Gun. I faked being sick so I could stay home from school and play Quake II once, but now I request days off from work instead of lying. Age of Empires II is still the best RTS, Half-Life is still the best FPS, and I still think the end of Mass Effect 3 was great!
