Freshly Frosted is a wonderful, family friendly puzzle game about making delicious donuts. The puzzles ramp up at a steady pace, easing you into the game’s mechanics before throwing some real head scratches at you. As the puzzles progress they add new mechanics and rules, making every dozen a unique experience. I found the controls to be intuitive on a gamepad with many options to undo and reset puzzles to fix mistakes. It also has a handy hint system that you can use if you need a little help. The narrator does a great job of explaining the game’s rules while also keeping the chill, day-dreamy aesthetic.

There’s a lot of well crafted content here for the price. Just make sure you don’t play on an empty stomach because these donuts are look good enough to eat.

I remember playing Super Mario Bros. and Metroid on the NES with my older brother, and never being able to land on the aircraft carrier in Top Gun. I faked being sick so I could stay home from school and play Quake II once, but now I request days off from work instead of lying. Age of Empires II is still the best RTS, Half-Life is still the best FPS, and I still think the end of Mass Effect 3 was great!
