Abbey Games, the creators of Reus and Renowned Explorers: International Society, have just launched a new Kickstarter to fund Godhood. Godhood is a real-time strategy city builder in the vein of Black & White. In it you will decide what kind of deity you want to be and have your citizens worship you accordingly. Will you be a greedy god who only wants gold from your followers? Or will be you be spiritual god who requires prayers to gain power? There will be many play styles, and the ultimate goal is earn power while also keeping your followers happy. The Kickstarter pitch promises a high level of customization, possibly even letting you be an Eldritch horror.
Abbey Games have a positive track record of bringing games to market with Reus and Renowned Explorers, two highly rated PC strategy games. Godhood also boasts a colorful, lively art style that compliments the game’s over-the-top nature. Abbey Games has also stated that the game’s Early Access phase is fully funded and planned to launch in May 2019. However, they have turned to Kickstarter to make the game the best it can be, including adding fan requested features. There are a variety of backing levels ranging from €1 all the way up to €1,000. €20, or about $23, gets you a digital copy of the game and your name in the backer credits. All in all, a pretty standard Kickstarter.
