Reikon Games has pushed out a new, free update to their brutal twin-stick shooter RUINER. Dubbed the “Savage Update,” it includes things many fans have been looking for. First off, in adds a more challenging New Game+ mode as well as a built in Speedrun mode. The Speedrun mode adds online leaderboards and removes all the story bits, so it’s a pure action experience. Finally, the update also adds new weapons to the game and a new set of finishing moves. The update is only out on PC for now, but will be coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 “soon.”

In honor of the update, the Steam version of RUINER will be 33% off until November 22nd. Take a look at the announcement trailer below for a closer look at what the update will offer.

RUINER launched on September 26th on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 to most positive reviews. The Savage Update is the first major content update for the game. No word yet on when exactly the update will be coming to the Xbox and PlayStation versions, but you can’t complain too much when the content is free. Reikon Games also expressed interest in bringing RUINER to the Nintendo Switch, but no word either on when that version is coming.

I remember playing Super Mario Bros. and Metroid on the NES with my older brother, and never being able to land on the aircraft carrier in Top Gun. I faked being sick so I could stay home from school and play Quake II once, but now I request days off from work instead of lying. Age of Empires II is still the best RTS, Half-Life is still the best FPS, and I still think the end of Mass Effect 3 was great!
